                           COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ART SHOW

The Community Development Art Show was held in March, April and May at the Carnegie Center in Oregon City.  The opening was held on March 6, 2007.

Anna went to the International Aids Confernence in Toronto in August, 2006, while there she gathered art in the form of leaves from people all over the world. The leaves have been incorporated into a large "Tree of Life" mosaic.

The students  worked in 5 groups focusing on the subjects: Clean Water/Sanitation, Food Security, Health and Wellness, Education and Income generating Activities. Each group produced 2 mosaics about their topic. They  also created informative posters using Excel and Microsoft Publishing  about their subjects to go along with their mosaic.

The students constructed a model chicken coop and created colorful paper mache chickens. They provided  information about the importance of income generating projects at the grassroots level in developing areas. The purpose of this show was to help educate the public about community developmment issues and to help raise funds to buy land, building material for the construction of the coop and the chickens. Over $1000.00 was raised at this event, half the funds needed to purchase the land for the Chicken Coop Project.
